ASSEN

Historical success in the Superkart category..

Last week-end, the last of the three Superkart European Championship Events was held in Assen in the Netherlands.
Thank to the traditionally excellent performance of our factory driver Peter Elkmann from Germany, the MS KART company won the historically first European Champion title for the MS KART chassis.

Peter Elkman was the leader before the last event of the series; however two French drivers, Benjamin Mahé and Damien Payárd, were very close as to point standings. Our driver did nevertheless admit no doubts about his will to win the European championship. During the qualifying practice, he qualified himself to the pole position, and won the race 1. During the second race, he just controlled the situation and finished on the second place behind Lee Harphamem from Great Britain; to win the Championship, the fifth place was sufficient. Moreover, his French rivals came short in this event. Payard finished on the seventh place in race 1 and fourth in the race 2, and Mahé finished in the second decade.

Also our second factory driver, Michal Barták, starting with the MS KART and a completely new VM engine, performed an excellent race. He qualified on the tenth position. In the race 1, he finished on the sixth place, before the Champion title pretender Payard, and in the race 2 he retired from the sixth position for technical failure. According to Michal Barták, the whole kart was very well tuned in the second race, and Michal hoped to finish on the podium. This hope is substantiated by the fact, that he overtook the British driver Carl Hulme, who finished on the third place, and in the moment he retired, he was already driving before him. Pity about the retirement from the race; due to that Michal fell down substantially in the final ranking, where he finished on a still very good eleventh place. The seventh place, considering the possible gain of about fifteen points, would be indeed much better.
Nevertheless our satisfaction is enormous, both for the Championship title, and for the final ranking of Michal Barták. Peter Elkmann is driving with the proven YAMAHA engine, whilst our team around Michal Barták “learns” to work the completely new VM 250 engine, which was a great surprise for the rest of the field. Nobody gave to it any chances in the first year, and we surprised everybody with regular rankings in the first decade. It is surely a great success in such an important competition of sixty drivers from the whole world.

Facts about the event:
Race 1
1. Peter Elkmann – D,  MS KART/Yamaha
2. Ganin Bennett – GB, Anderson/FPE
3. John Riley – GB, Anderson/Rotax
6. Michal Barták – CZ, MS KART/VM
21. Marcel Maasmann – NL, MS KART/VM

Race 2
1. Lee Harpham – GB, Anderson/Rotax
2. Petr Elkmann – D, MS KART/Yamaha
3. Carl Hulme – GB, Anderson/FPE
15. Marcel Maasmann – NL, MS KART/VM

There were in total 57 drivers on the start.

In conclusion, we congratulate once more to Peter Elkmann on the European Champion title.

1. Kruse / D             Anderson/DEA
2. Barták / CZ          MS KART/VM
3. Morgan / F           Anderson/PUP
4. Reinke / D           PUP/BRC
5. Dau / D               PUP/BRC
6. Albertsson / S      Anderson/Rotax

2. závod
1. Elkmann / D        MS KART/Yamaha
2. Kruse / D            Anderson/DEA
3. Chilcott / GB        Anderson/Rotax
4. Barták / CZ         MS KART/VM
5. Morgan / F          Anderson/PUP
6. Massmann / NL   MS KART/VM

Celkové pořadí po 4 závodech:
1. Kruse Peter
2. Barták Michal
3. Elkmann Peter
4. Dau Olaf
5. Chilcott Robert
6. Reinke Jürgen

Další závod Superracekart série se jede 12. a 13. července v Německu na okruhu v Oscherslebenu.

Sweden

Hello,

here are some results from our race in the south of Sweden, June 14.
Class KZ2, Gunnar Nilsson memorial

1st David Söderlund - Kartson Racing Team - MS KART
2nd Marcus Jönsson - Kartson Racing Team - MS KART
3rd Emil Persson - Kartson Racing Team - MS KART

Marcus did successfully win the time qualification and the 2 qualification heats. In both heats he had a secure victory.
David had lots of problem during the whole day with understeering.
Emil had good speed the whole day and was right behind Marcus.

When they entered the track for the final the rain started to pour.
Slicks at wet track. Marcus started to build a gap to remaining drivers.
David got an excellent start and got from 7th to 3rd position in the first lap and in 7 laps he had overtaken Marcus.
Emil did a great job fighting for the 3rd position.

Once again did we show that Kartson Racing Team and MS KART have the fastest drivers.

19.5. 2008
A superb weekend at the Superkart European Championship at Lausitzring in Germany

The MS KART Superkart Team´s preparations for the 2nd race of the European Championship were really very hard. We wanted to make the best possible result but we would never have hoped for having 2 pilots at the podium ! Peter Elkmann improved his Yamaha engine with new cylinders and was very satisfied saying that he never before drove such a fast engine. All our drivers using VM engines got a wholy new IMF ignition which considerably improved the engine performance. It is a pitty that because of some problems with the electricity Michal Barták was not able to reach a good lap time in the second time practice so we had to take up with the time reached in the first time practice which was only enough for the 22nd position at the starting grid. The results in time practice were as follows:

Peter Elkmann - 2nd place
Marcel Maasmann – 14th place
Michal Barták - 22nd place
Lumír Vaszily – 24th place
Thomas Urhofer – 34th place

In total there were 62 pilots out of which 12 English men who did confirm their speed in the race though. The extreme engine set up of most of them did not survive the whole race.

Results from race No. 1:

1st Peter Elkmann / MS
2nd Benjamin Mahé
3rd Michal Barták / MS
10th Lumír Vaszily / MS

Peter Elkmann won the race after a hard fight with the French pilot Benjamin Mahé. Michal Barták drove in a phantastic way from 22nd position up to the 3rd place. He reached the 4th best lap time. Michal was surprised when they stand him under the podium besides Elkmann and Mahé after the goal. He had no idea that he finished the race 3rd ! Also Lumír Vaszily made an excellent race – he finished on the 10t place (only 1 lap to go he was driving on the 7th position, then he falled to 10th). Marcel Maasmann fell out of place 7th after making a turn. Thomas Urhofer had an accident and did not finish the race. In the second race there were a big crash after the start which was caused by the English pilot Harpham (the fastest man in time practice) who pressed himself into the inner part of the track and bumped into Elkmann. All the pilots behind them got squeezed in the field and started to turn while braking, the karts bumped into each other. 25 of them staid at the starting straight out of which 5 were totally damaged. There was a new start after 15 minutes. Michal Barták´s front stub as well as a rear wheel axle went bent. We made the convergence set up very fast but Michal had to start with a bent wheel.

Results from race No. 2:

1st Peter Elkmann / MS
2nd Mark Owens
3rd Benjamin Mahé
10th Lumír Vaszily / MS
12th Marcel Maasmann / MS
15. Thomas Urhofer / AT

Michal Barták fell out from the 9th position already in the 5th lap because of a broken gearbox shaft which was probably caused by the raer axle vibrations due to the bent wheel. What a pitty. The winner Peter Elkmann aims with some good luck to the 2008 European title win and the other MS KART pilots collect points in order to make the best possible final result. This was only the 3rd race for our new VM 250cc engine so Michal´s 3rd position in the first final is a great success exciting the competition.

The total classification after 2 race events is:

1. Benjamin Mahé
2. Damien Payart
3. Peter Elkmann
11. Michal Barták
14. Lumír Vaszily
16. Marcel Maasmann
29. Thomas Urhofer

The next race of the European Championship will take place on 2nd –3rd August 2008 at the Dutch circuit in Assen.

21.4. 2008

1st race of the European Superracekart Serie
Nürburgring 18 - 20th April 2008

The 1st victory in the history of MS SUPERKART chassis was reached by the driver Peter Elkmann in the first race of the 2008 European Superracekart Serie at Nürburgring. The german pilot driving with Yamaha engine has been the factory and test driver of MS KART factory since January 2008.

Peter would have won both final heats of the race because there was no equivalent competitor of him but unfortunately he fell out of the first heat in the last lap from top position because of a failure of electricity. Anyway he won the second heat with a big advantage.

Also Michal Barták (MS KART / VM 250) achieved great results. He finished 3rd in the fisrt and 4th in the second heat. Thanks to such balanced front positions in both heats he is the leading pilot of the Serie.

Lumír Vaszily (MS KART / VM 250) made a very good 6th place in the first and 12th place in the second heat.
The dutch pilot Marcel Maasmann (MS KART / VM 250) finished 10th in the first heat and he fell out of the second heat in second lap from position No. 10. It is neccessary to point out that he faced a lot of problems in time practice and because of this he had to start only from position 48.

The starting grid counted 54 pilots in total.

The results after the first race are as follows:

15.4. 2008
DKM, Kerpen

Hi Milena,

the race at Kerpen was really a challenge for me. There were some drivers from the European Championship who participated as guests just for this race. Unfortunately I was pushed off the track quite brutally during the time practise after only a few laps, so I did not have a real chance to show my speed and get a good time. I gained some places in the heats and in the Hoffungslauf I was even quicker than many of the top guys in the rain. It´s a pity I could not make it to the finals. I was very pleased with the chassis and my new engine. Alex was my first mechanic this time and gave me very good driver´s coaching and dad took care about the engine and chassis.

The Kerpen track is very hard for the body and I think this was my hardest race so far in my career. We were told that Kerpen is the most demanding circuit in Germany so it can only get better when we proceed to Wackersdorf, Ampfing etc. I think I have to go to the gym for more practise to get even stronger arm muscles.

The cooperation with Toni and Jens was perfect. The were very helpful with hints and tips all the time.
No doubt we will become a quick team further on. Toni had also a tough time but he showed some real pace from time to time during the weekend. I´m attaching some photos for your info.

Please visit my website in a few days time. I´m currently updating it.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Report from the 1st race of the CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship in
Nogaro / France on 4-6th April 2008

There were totally 58 drivers on the starting grid of Divison 1. The MS KART racing team started for the first time ever with its MS KART chassis at a race of the European Championship and presented at the same time together with the VM factory the wholy new 2-cylinder VM 250cc Superkart engine, which has been produced by the VM factory in cooperation with MS KART.

Our entry in the 2008 season was very successful. There were 5 drivers entering the race with MS KART chassis, 3 of them driving the VM engine.

Peter Elkmann from Germany – the factory pilot of MS KART – drove the Yamaha engine. In the first race he had to start from the box line because of the engine reparation and finished 18th. In the 2nd race he finished 3rd which is the best result ever of the make MS KART in the Superkart cathegory!

Michal Barták – the factory and test driver of MS KART factory – started with the new VM engine. He was driving on the 10th position for the whole first race but in the final lap the wear-off tyres of his superkart unfortunatelly did not hold the vehicle when Michal tried to overtake to the 9th position and so he did not finish the race within the first 10. He finished 14th. In the 2nd race Michal started from the 23rd place and drove ahead to the 10th position. Unfortunately he fell out because of a ignition sensor failure in the last lap.

The second pilot using the VM engine is Marcel Maasmann from Holland, the winner of the Rotax 250 European Trophy 2007. He got a good position on the starting grid thanks to his 16th place in time practice. Marcel finished 9th in the first race and after a colision 22nd in the second race.

There was also the Czech pilot Lumír Vaszily driving the VM 250 engine. It was his first race ever in Divison 1 and he did very well. He did not finish the 1st race because of an engine failure (burn piston) and in the2nd race he fell off for a broken stub axle.

The austrian pilot Thomas Urhofer did not finish both races because of a failure of his Rotax engine.

Both races took place on dry track condition at the temperature of about 15 degrees and were of very high niveau. The winner of the 1st race was the french pilot Payart in front of his countryman Mahé and the English driver Riley. The 2nd race won Mahé, 2nd was Payard and 3rd our factory pilot Peter Elkmann. Race report:
At the beginning of the year in Panama the Karting Club makes an endurance race to promote the sport, to bring back old drivers and to attract new drivers. This race is 2 hours long and 3 drivers per team. Only World Formula engines are allowed.

This years race was very successful for the MS Kart family. Our team conformed by Martin Sosa, Javier Orillac and Boris Chen, qualified in second place, and the other MS Kart team conformed by Edwin Serrano, Moises Zebede and Tony Frago qualified in Pole Position.

So right from the start it was a 1 & 2 for MS Kart.

During the race we had a better pit strategy and change of drivers and we managed to put our team on the lead on the last 30mins of racing.

We won the race by one lap and the other MS Kart team got in second place.
So very succesfull day for MS Kart! Once again proving that MS Kart is one of the best chassis on the market!

Ing. Martin "Pincho" Sosa
